Monday Evening Musical Club honors scholarship winners
NORWICH – The Monday Evening Musical Club presents the annual Advanced Students and Scholarship Winners Recital on Monday, May 16 at 7:30 at the United Church of Christ, 11 West Main Street in Norwich.
The concert features students from the private studios of music club members. Piano students from the studio of Anita Humer including Jason Handy (9th grade), Madeline Ticknor (10th grade), Mick Khoury (10th grade) and Kate Orioli (12th grade) will perform. Students from the voice studio of club member Meena Conant will also be performing including Ashlee Zammiello (12th grade), Breanna Guiffre (11th grade), Hayley Chwazik-Gee (12th grade), and Dana Bowers.
Since 1954, the Monday Evening Musical Club has awarded scholarships to talented Chenango County high school seniors who major in music. This year there are three outstanding high school seniors who have been awarded the scholarship.
Featured will be Hailey Branham, daughter of David and Mary Branham, who will graduate in June from Oxford High School where she has excelled in art and music. Hailey has participated in Drama Club including starring roles in the annual high school musicals, NYSSMA music festival, and Area All-State Choirs. She is a private voice student of Meena Conant and will attend SUNY-Fredonia in the fall where she will major in liberal arts and music.
