B-G 1, Delhi 0
BAINBRIDGE – Bainbridge-Guilford dealt Delhi its second straight 1-0 shutout loss in the Midstate Athletic Conference’s fifth- through eight-place team tournament.
The Bobcats scored their lone run in the bottom of the first. Danny Gormley legged out an infield hit, and two batters later, Billy Holden laced an RBI triple.
B-G pitcher Paul Parsons and the Bobcats’ defense stifled two big Delhi scoring threats. In the fourth, Delhi put runners on first and second. With two outs, B-G first baseman Eric Oefelein snagged a hard grounder down the first base line, and got back to first for the final out.
In the seventh, Delhi’s Anthony Salerno hit a one-out double to put runners on second and third. Parsons then induced a groundout to third and a short bouncer in front of the plate that catcher Gordie Shields fielded and threw to Oefelein for the final out. “You would love to see more runs produced, but both teams defended well, and each pitcher threw it well,” said B-G coach Tim Mattingly.
Parsons finished with seven strikeouts and just two walks. The Bobcats play the winner of Unadilla Valley and Greene on Wednesday.

Walton 7, Oxford 2
WALTON – Forced to play at Walton with its own field unplayable, Oxford was shut down by the Warriors pitcher Dan Bowker in Monday’s contest.
Bowker took a no-hitter into the fifth inning when he gave up a clean single to Oxford freshman Joe Nelson.
To that point, Walton had constructed a 5-0 advantage. Fred Babcock had an RBI double as part of Walton’s three-run first. The Warriors added two more runs in the third, and cruised from there. Bowker tossed a two-hit complete game, and had three runs scored on offense. Nick Shields was 2-for-3 with three runs scored.
Oxford broke up the shutout plating two in the sixth. Matt Moore singled, Adam Pierson reached on an error, and Cameron Heggie sacrifice bunted each runner over. Andrew Golden’s sacrifice play scored one run, and a throwing error cut the tally to 5-2.

Rob Reeder had four hits for SV to lead his team, and Rich Dennison drove in two runs.
Karl Graham and Travis Sheldon each had three hits for OV with Sheldon knocking in three runs. “It was a pretty well played game, especially with the conditions outside,” said OV coach Dave Loomis. “We tied it up a couple of times when we had to, and we had runners in scoring position to win.
