Sauquoit Valley 17, Sherburne-Earlville 12
SHERBURNE – Sherburne-Earlville threw a scare at Center State Conference Division II leader Sauquoit Valley Wednesday afternoon.
Nicole Burline had three doubles and went 4-for-5 for Sauquoit, who kept the runs coming in the contest to stay a step ahead of the Marauders. “We lost, but it was the best game we’ve played all season,” said S-E coach Michelle Parker. “We were relaxed at the plate and hitting the ball hard. It was fun to watch them, and not roll over after falling behind early.”
Three of S-E’s four errors came in the opening two innings, and led directly to five of SV’s eight runs.
Chelsea Beaudoin went 4-for-5 to lead S-E in hits, and Destinie Holmquist was 3-for-5 with four RBI. The Marauders finished the game with a season-high 16 basehits.
S-E hosts a doubleheader against Hamilton on Friday at Paddleford Park in Sherburne.
