AFTON – This Saturday, the Afton Historical Society will honor one of its civil war veterans while observing Armed Forces Day.

The program will begin at 2 p.m. at Glenwood Cemetery, where Town Historian Charles Decker will deliver an address honoring Civil War soldier Presson Peck. Civil War re-enactors Harlan Mills and Al Stewart will take part in the ceremony.

Peck was an Afton native who served in Company E of the 114th Regiment of the New York Volunteers. He is buried at the far side of Glenwood Cemetery.
