Enter the Haggis: Celtic Rock comes to EOH

EARLVILLE – The Earlville Opera House welcomes Enter the Haggis with their innovative Celtic rock at 8 p.m. Saturday, June 4. Enter the Haggis, an explosive Celtic-rock quintet (complete with kilts!), combines the traditional sounds of the highland bagpipe and fiddle with a powerhouse rhythm section and inventive songwriting to create an infectious hybrid of old and new Celtic. Their raucous live show is full of raw energy and beautiful melodies.
The band is known for their inventive songwriting with material coming from guitarist Trevor Levington and fiddle player Brian Buchanan. However, piper Craig Downie has also contributed original material for the band. Brian on fiddle gives a masterful performance. Electric guitar duties are handled by Trevor Lewington. Nova Scotia native Mark Abraham can really lay down a bass rhythm. And then there's Bruce McCarthy who holds it all together with his powerhouse rhythms on drum.
The group’s recent album, ‘Gutter Anthems,’ showcases the band’s unique style and has received hot reviews. Calvin Daniels reviewing for Canada's Yorkton This Week tried to pin down what makes this band special: “What Enter the Haggis does though is update the [Celtic] sound just enough that it fits the modern era, and broadens the fan base. Listen to the intro to DNA and you hear how they blend the modern with the heritage of Celtic music. That is the strength of Enter the Haggis, the ability to bring the past so vividly into focus in terms of soft rock, yet maintaining the storytelling heart of Celtic music.”
Join us for an unforgettable evening with Enter the Haggis on Saturday! General admission is $18 and $16 for EOH members and students are discounted to $13. Premium seating in the first 4 rows is an added $5. The EOH Theater is wheelchair-accessible with a ramp and a lift. Don’t forget to visit our Artisan’s Gift Shop and EOH Arts Café! The café is always open before the performance and during intermission, and serves tasty desserts, refreshing summer drink classics, and hot coffee/tea as well. For more information, or to reserve your seats, call 315-691-3550 or order online at www.earlvilleoperahouse.com. The Opera House is located at 18 East Main Street, in Earlville.
