Schultz ordained a priest
SYRACUSE – James Shultz, a native of Norwich, was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Syracuse Saturday, June 4. The Mass of Ordination took place in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Downtown Syracuse. During the Mass, the newly ordained priest learned of his first assignment as a priest of the Diocese of Syracuse at Sacred Heart in Cicero.
Jamie is the fifth of 13 children born to Michael and Jane Schultz. He and his family are parishioners of St. Malachy’s Church in Sherburne with Father Lester Smith as their pastor. Jamie received a degree in industrial economics and German from Union College and attended Katholische Universitat Eichstatt in Bavaria with a major in education. He has his teaching certification in social studies. He received his Masters in Divinity from St. Mary’s Seminary and University in Baltimore, Maryland. While studying to be a priest, he spent a required pastoral year at St. John the Evangelist in New Hartford Church.
