Mayor unopposed, trustees face competition in Oxford’s village election
OXFORD – Oxford residents will take to the polls on Tuesday for the village’s annual election. This year, the office of village mayor and two seats on the village board of trustees are up for election. All are 2-year terms.
Incumbent Terry M. Stark will not face opposition in his bid for re-election as mayor. Stark, a Democrat, has served in his present capacity since 2002. Prior to seeking the office, he spent 10 years on the village board of trustees.
Trustees Matthew T. Voce and Joseph Spence are both seeking re-election to the board. Voce, a Republican, was appointed to the board in 2000 and is currently serving his fifth elected term. Spence, a Democrat, was elected in 2003 and is serving his fourth term. They are being challenged by Democratic newcomer John M. O’Connor. A life-long resident of Oxford, O’Connor is a former school board member and currently sits on the village planning board.
