Phillies rally to capture softball championship
NORWICH – The Phillies rallied from a 7-4 deficit, and went on to claim the Norwich-Oxford Little League softball championship beating the Mets, 14-7 earlier this month.
The Phillies’ Sam Gage scored Emma Cannestra with an RBI single in the first, and Katelyn Dowdall came in on an RBI groundout by Mikaela Moore for the 2-0 lead.
After Hunter Hagenbuch and Cannestra added to the lead in the second inning with a pair of RBI singles, the Mets rallied to tie the game with four runs in the bottom frame. Sophie Hutchens, Jade Orlando, Taylor Hansen, and Chic Spyratos each scored on a combination of hits and Phillies errors.
