Rodeo returns to Afton Fair

AFTON – After successfully filling the stands to capacity in 2010, the Afton Fair board is proud to announce the rodeo is back for the 2011 lineup.
Millennia Entertainment, The Afton Fair, and T Bar T Rodeo present, Thursday Night Thunder, a full live rodeo show. Cowboys and girls will take center stage, July 21 at 7:30 p.m. on the track. Headlining this year’s rodeo for the second year running are two local favorites, brothers Jesse and Jamie Griswold of Bainbridge.
“I was amazed at last years sell out,” said the owner of Millennia Entertainment, Terry Potter.
“A huge part of the sellout can be attributed to local favorites, Jesse and Jamie Griswold, they were unbelievable, the support they have from friends, family, and their fans is fantastic,” added Potter.
Jesse and Jamie have been participating in rodeos for almost a decade. The brothers are current members of the International Professional Rodeo Association and the American Professional Rodeo Association.
“I’m glad to have the rodeo back in Afton,” said Jamie, “it’s great to get everyone out for a good time.”
The boys, who both hope to go onto to ride professionally someday, say their current and future success is due in part because of the ongoing support they receive from their parents. The boys can be found at as many as 55 rodeos per year, traveling throughout the state, into parts of Vermont, Maine, into Canada, and out West to compete in as many as two to three shows a day.
“We are really excited, we like to put on a good show and this one is on our own stomping ground,” said Jesse.
In addition to bull riding, the boys will be taking part in the other aspects of the extended show in Afton. This year’s rodeo includes steer wrestling, bronc riding, barrel racing, breakaway roping, bull riding and more.
“I’m urging everyone to get tickets early because we have already sold several on-line and received phone calls asking where they can get the tickets in local outlets, ” said Potter. Tickets are $10 on sale now while supplies last, or $13 on the day of the show. Visit www.brownpapertickets.com or call 1-800-838-3006. Other local ticket outlets include the Afton Fair Office, Bainbridge Pharmacy, Video Entertainment Plus of Sidney and Hayes Office Products of Norwich. Gate admission into the fair is not included with this ticket price.
