Four injured in car, tractor trailer collision
COLUMBUS – Four people were injured Wednesday in an accident involving an Agro Farma tanker truck and a car on County Road 25 in the Town of Columbus.
According to Lt. Richard Cobb of the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, 48-year-old Sandra Lindie of Brooklyn was heading east on County Road 25 when she lost control of her car, crossed the centerline and struck a tractor trailer being driven by Van Scott, 45, of Norwich.
The collision occurred shortly before 7 p.m. on County Road 25 near its intersection with Larcher Road in the Town of Columbus.
Lindie, who was driving a tan 1999 Chevy 4-door sedan, had to be extricated from her vehicle. According to Cobb, she sustained injuries to her leg and hand which, though “fairly severe,” were not life threatening.
Her three passengers – a 13-year-old girl and two men, ages 58 and 64 – all suffered minor injuries in the crash. The four were transported by ambulance to Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown for evaluation and treatment, Cobb reported.
The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured in the crash.
According to Cobb, Lindie was ticketed for failure to keep right.
County Road 25 was closed while crews worked to clear the scene. It was reopened at approximately 9:45 p.m.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the New Berlin Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Sherburne Rescue Squad and the Chenango County Bureau of Fire.
