Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band comes to EOH tonight
EARLVILLE – Grammy-winner Peter Rowan returns in honor of the EOH 40th anniversary with his hot-pickin’ bluegrass band on the historic stage of the Earlville Opera House Friday at 8 p.m. WAER FM generously sponsors the Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band.
“Grammy-award winning singer/songwriter/guitarist Peter Rowan has been a well-known figure in bluegrass and roots music circles since his early days as lead singer and rhythm guitarist for Bill Monroe’s Bluegrass Boys... [His new recording] Legacy marks the first time in Rowan’s career that he has recorded with a bluegrass band under the auspices of his own name...the warm, tight harmonies of the new Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band improve upon the charming, but slightly looser harmonies of the original Old & In the Way.” (Jud Conway)
CountryChart.com remarks: “Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band’s “Legacy” is the best bluegrass album of the year, but it’s better than that. This album should not be missed by any music fan of any genre. In fact, “Legacy” is the perfect title for an album that should be lovingly handed down to future generations.” The review further notes the “instrumentation and vocal performance are faultless … The album’s biggest surprise is the Americana country track “So Good,” which could easily find radio chart success in multiple formats. The country lullaby “The Night Prayer” has much of the same charm and could win over even the most skeptical critic of bluegrass music.”
