Oxford post office opens lobby open 24/7
OXFORD – Postal officials report that the Oxford Post Office has made modifications to keep its lobby open 24 hours daily for easier access to that community’s post office boxes.
The Oxford office is among the first in the Postal Service’s Albany District to move towards round-the-clock access for post office boxes. The new hours went into effect July 15.
The expansion comes as post offices in Upstate New York explore ways to expand access to popular postal services - such as stamp sales or post office boxes - to meet changing market demand and the active lifestyle of today’s postal customers in an increasingly digital age.
“The Postal Service is always looking for avenues to improve customer service,” said Albany District Manager Edward F. Phelan, Jr. “In these locations, we realized that we could easily keep the doors open with only minor modifications to our lobby. It is an important shift for us, as we continue to respond to customers who want to receive their mail in a secure post office box, but at the times of day that fit their schedules.”
The Oxford Post Office, located at 2 Washington Road, offers three different sizes of post office boxes and free mailing supplies.
Applications for post office box service are available at any post office or the Postal Service’s website, www.usps.com. Box rent payments can also be processed online through this site.
Window services in the Oxford Post Office remain available from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays. Saturday hours in Oxford remain unchanged at 9 a.m. until noon.
Postal officials note that customers may also find postage stamps sold at face value at Price Chopper and P&C in Norwich and at the Sidney Federal Credit Union.
