Man arrested for breaking into two Norwich restaurants

NORWICH – The burglar who broke into Bill’s Diner early Saturday morning made off with an empty register and four felony charges for his efforts.

Jeremy A. Squires, 36, of New Berlin, was taken into custody by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office Sunday following an investigation into the incident, which took place at approximately 2:53 a.m. Saturday.

According to Lt. Richard Cobb, Squires kicked in the eating establishment’s glass door and stole the cash register. His actions were captured on video surveillance equipment, which helped identify him as the culprit.
