NORWICH – Funeral services for Joe Benenati were held on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011 at St. Bartholomew’s Church. Rev. Ralph Bove, pastor, celebrated a Mass of Christian Burial.

Mass began with Deborah Benenati and Ed Sidote placing the baptismal pall upon the casket. Several community leaders then spoke about Joe. Honorable Judge Howard Sullivan, Tom Loughren, retired Chenango County Sheriff, Norwich Chief of Police Joe Angelino and Harold Funke spoke of their friend and colleague. Nieces Eileen Soika and Dr. Marie Loscavio also honored Joe. The scripture readings for the Mass were proclaimed by Frank Benenati and Dr. Loscavio. Eileen Soika, Ed Sidote and Teresa Biviano presented the offertory gifts to Father Bove. The organist for the service was Mary Ward. Antoinette Perkins sang a solo and members of the St. Bartholomew’s Choir paid musical tribute. Mary Ann Bodiot was the altar server and Eucharistic Minister.
