JC pulls away to beat Norwich
BOYS’ SOCCER
Johnson City 8, Norwich 2
NORWICH – After Norwich’s Cameron Prime tied the game midway through the first half on a direct kick, Johnson City scored seven straight times to pull away for the victory Thursday.
The Wildcats proceeded to a 3-1 halftime lead, one of those tallies an own goal. Just 18 seconds into the second half, JC’s Antonio Kadylak netted an unassisted goal, the first of five in the second half. “We played a better first half, but with them scoring early in the second half, that deflated our team a little bit,” said Norwich coach Steve Prime. “We lunged at the ball too much on defense, and they just went around us and got off some good shots.”
Billy Whaley scored unassisted for Norwich late in the second half in a scramble in front of the goal after a cornerkick. The Tornado return to action next Thursday against Owego.
