Halberg helps BU to win
MORGANTOWN, W.V. – Sophomore forward Luke Halberg (Norwich), a Valley Heights Christian Academy graduate, finished with a goal and a career-high two assists and junior forward Jake Keegan added a goal and an assist, powering Binghamton (2-1-0) to a 4-1 win over Houston Baptist (0-3-0) in the final round of the Nike/West Virginia Men's Soccer Classic last week at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. The Bearcats were down 1-0 through 70 minutes of play, but exploded for four goals over the final 20 minutes of action.
Halberg began the Bearcats' late-game assault in the 73rd minute, when he fired a cross to senior midfielder Ryan Walter, who headed the ball into the net. Five minutes later, Halberg found Keegan, who went on to beat the goalkeeper in a one-on-one situation that put the Bearcats ahead to stay.
At the 85:58 mark it was Halberg's turn to score a goal, when he finished off a cross from Keegan.
