Tipping fees waived for flood debris

NORTH NORWICH – Trash and debris leftover from the floods of Tropical Storm Lee and Hurricane Irene may be deposited in the county’s landfills at no cost.

The Chenango County Board of Supervisors adopted an amendment to waive tipping fees for local residents, thereby providing some relief to those seriously affected by the storms.

“We’re already getting plenty of debris from Greene and Bainbridge,” Public Works Director Randy Gibbon said. “Anyone affected directly by the storms can bring their debris right to the landfill.”
