A major game changer?

This may be a major game changer.
Why does Al Gore rant? To make money, for sure. But also to warn us of global warming. Sorry, he changed that to “climate change”. Caused by us and our carbon emissions.
Why do greens try to stop oil and gas drilling? In large part because they want to reduce our carbon emissions. Because they fear climate change.
Why the Kyoto Treaty, which would have crippled economies? Why the push for cars to drive cross-country on a teaspoon of gas? Why do we cough up billions to subsidize wind and solar power? Why cap and trade stuff that hamper our economy? Why the endless efforts to persuade adults and kiddies that anything that emits carbon is evil? These are all attempts to reduce our carbon emissions. Because carbon emissions cause climate change.
What if they do not? Oops.
A major European scientific agency suggests that climate change comes from two culprits: Cosmic rays and the sun. Not human carbon emissions.
This idea came from research by Danish scientists. They presented it several years ago. Their work passed muster enough to be published in Science. That is one of the most prestigious science journals in the world. It does not publish junk science stuff.
The Danes put their theories to the test. They built a reaction chamber to create the equivalent of our lower atmosphere. They created rays that mimic the Sun and cosmic activity. Voila! Their theories were validated.
Next, the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) built a more elaborate reaction chamber. To try to replicate what the Danes did. Voila! The Danes’ work stood up to the new tests.
CERN is in science’s big leagues. It is the outfit that built the Large Hadron Collider for billions of bucks.  To recreate conditions that followed the Big Bang.  CERN involved 8000 scientists at 600 universities and labs in 60 countries.
CERN says, basically, the theories that humans cause climate change may be all wet. It may be right. Scientists have spent over $80 billion to prove humans cause climate change. They created computer models galore to prove it. Yet their models have fallen short again and again. The Danes’ theory is looking far more solid. At least according to CERN scientists.
Such work threatens to upset many green applecarts. It threatens to upend a long list of  green policies around the world. It threatens to make SUVs more popular. It threatens Al Gore’s livelihood. It threatens the grants of scientists trying to prove humans are the culprits of climate change.
If the subject interests you, go to Nationalpost.com.  For September 3. This is a Canadian newspaper. Look up Lawrence Solomon’s article, headlined Our Cosmic Climate.  It may change the way you think about climate change.
The Danish and CERN findings may ultimately change the way a few billion people and their governments think about the subject.
