Public hearing on Monday to discuss permitting debris from Broome
NORWICH – The Chenango County Board of Supervisors will conduct a public hearing to discuss a request from Broome County to dispose of solid waste resulting from this month’s floods at the Chenango County landfill.
The meeting will take place at 10:30 a.m., Monday at the Board of Supervisors’ Chambers in the County Office Building, 5 Court St., Norwich.
Broome County had requested permission to transport between 10-15,000 tons of storm debris over a period of three months to the landfill in Pharsalia. Currently, local law prohibits the importing of solid waste to the county landfill.
Any Chenango County resident is entitled to speak at the public hearing. Copies of the law are available at the office of Chenango County Clerk of the Board R.C. Woodford at the county office building in Norwich.
