NORWICH – The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office – partnered with the Chenango County Bureau of Fire Cause and Origin Team – is continuing its investigation into a residential trailer fire that claimed the life of its owner early Saturday morning.

The whereabouts of Mary DiDonato, 55, of 308 County Road 34 in the Town of Norwich, were unknown following a 911 call received at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Sept. 24 reporting a structure fire at the above address. She was found near the front door of the residence once the fire personnel were able to search the structure.

The single-wide trailer’s east end was engulfed in flames when the Norwich Fire Department arrived on the scene, according to Fire Chief Tracy Chawgo, although it was under control within minutes.
