DVD Patrol

Things are Falling around here, Patrollers! That is the DVD Patrol is heating up the fall a bit with an all new week of things here for you. The Toddster has been pretty busy catching things for the Fall season but is keeping on top with a couple of summer movies and some TV picks from last season. Let’s go in!

New on DVD

Fast Five - One of our favorite subjects to write about- Sequels. Dominick Torretto (Vin Diesel) and Brian O’Connor (Paul Walker) have a real strained relationship for a long time but after the events of the last movie, now they’re teaming up one more time to get out of the business. To do this, they have to assemble a crew that can not only drive but they can also trust too. You might recognize a few of them since they have been in some of the other sequels. To add even more to their plate, they have been targeted by the Government and Federal Marshals led by one of the best (Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson) is on their trail. The guys have targeted one of the biggest drug dealers in South America to rob. Will they pull off the job or can the Police stop them first? My sources tell me that another sequel with Walker and Diesel is in the works. Stay Tuned!

Scream 4 - Wes Craven is back for the one of the biggest horror franchises in movie history and has assembled the original cast and fresh faces to start things up again. Sydney Prescott (Neve Campbell) has been through a lot and has written a book to tell how she has been able to put her life back together. Now someone has targeted her one more time to try and tear it apart using the guise of her old enemy the Ghostface killer. Her cousin Jill (Emma Roberts) has become the new target and Sydney goes for help to old friends Dewey (David Arquette) and Gail (Courteney Cox). Is Sydney going to be able to get to the bottom of the mystery surrounding her old enemy coming back? Rumors are rampant that a “Scream 5” is being developed. We’ll see what happens.

Also on DVD

Body of Proof - For a lot of people, their jobs become their lives. For Megan Hunt (Dana Delany), this has been happening for too long. Being one of the best surgeons in the city, it has been a given. Megan’s life is about to change forever when a car accident robs of her ability to operate, so she becomes the medical examiner and the best in the city. In the pilot episode, Megan is called in to investigate a case after a long time and trying to put her life together with her family after being apart for so long. Can Megan get to the bottom of the case and make peace with them? Season 1 is available in stores now with Season 2 airing on ABC at 10 p.m. Tuesdays.

Hawaii Five-O - With sequels being a running theme this week, we’ll stick with this. Revivals are tricky but some work out and this one is one of the Toddster’s favorites from last season. In the first episode, Commander Steve Mcgarrett (Alex O’Laughlin) was one of the most brilliant and tactical officers the Navy has ever had. He is escorting a terrorist to jail and receives a call that his father has been taken hostage. He tries to negotiate with him but his father is killed and Steve drops everything to go after him. To help him out, the Governor of Hawaii gives him his own task force to do whatever it takes to stop trouble. He goes after him with the help of Detective Danny Williams (Scott Caan), Chin Ho Kelly (Daniel Dae Kim) and Kona Konakawa (Grace Park). Will this ragtag team of cops make a difference? Pick up Season 1 now and watch Season 2 on Mondays on CBS at 10.

The Bionic Woman - One of the most beloved series from the 1970S and on the Toddsters list. Jaime Sommers (Lindsey Wagner) was going to marry Steve Austin (Lee Majors), but her life changed forever when a parachuting accident critically injured her. Steve made the ultimate decision to make her bionic and now, like him, she can bend steel, run 60 MPH, and hear things coming from a mile away. In the Season 3 premiere, Jamie is now on her own and her old friend Dr. Rudy Wells (Martin Brooks) is a bit cranky with her and starts telling her she has to start taking better care of herself. He’s acting a bit strange, so she starts to discover why. There is another bionic creature and he’s a dog named Max. Max seems to have lost his fire for life and fire seems to be the problem. The powers that be want to destroy Max, but Jaime has other ideas. Can she learn Max’s problem with fire before they are caught? Season 3 is here and Seasons 1 and 2 are in stores too. Also, beginning Nov. 29, Season 1 of “The Six Million Dollar Man” will be in stores for the first time (The Toddster already has the entire series and it’s great).

I told you we had a lot for this week. Another super hero flies onto shelves next week but who could we be talking about? You’ll have to come back next time to find out. The Toddster will return next time.
