Cyclones win on the road

SHERRILL – The Norwich Cyclones “C” team, facing Vernon-Verona-Sherrill a battle of undefeated teams, downed the Red Devils, 13-0 last Sunday.

Drew Walsh got the Cyclones on the board on a 5-yard touchdown run in the second for a 6-0 halftime lead. Zack Mills led Norwich rushing with 68 yards, and added a 2-yard TD in the third. Austin Foulds also toted the pigskin well. A Carson Maynard pass to JT Vinal was good for a Cyclones point-after touchdown to round out the scoring for the day. Walsh led on defense, along with Foulds, Maynard, Alex McCann, Mills, and Griffin Clipston.

The Cyclones “A” team downed V-V-S, 20-0. Cole Rifanburg had a pair of TDs – an 8-yarder in the first and a 17-yard TD in the second. Carlos Ithier scampered for a 52-yard touchdown on the first play from scrimmage in the second half. Ithier also kicked a two-point conversion.

Nick Murphy, Carter Hubbard, Matt Parrella, Cameron Edwards, Dan Zieno, and Dalen Geislinger worked to lead the defense, with Jake Walsh returning a Red Devils interception 55 yards. Jordan Vinal also had an interception on the day.
