Book lovers share their passion for literature in Guernsey club
NORWICH – The Guernsey Library Book Lovers’ Club extends a welcome invitation to anyone interested in recreational reading and open book discussions.
The book club is in full swing, engaging readers and looking to attract new members. Local author and book club coordinator Cathy Robinson – along with library director Sarah Wiggins – are actively involved in the book club and hope to see the organization attract new faces in the coming months.
“We’re always open to new members. Everyone brings their own life experiences with them which adds to the discussion,” said Robinson.
When established in January, Robinson said the book club was a success from the beginning. She and Wiggins outlined the organization’s goals and the best way to attract new members.
“We discussed how we could market each book,” Robinson said. “We had a successful first meeting and many of those members are still returning six months later.”
The club currently draws nearly a dozen active participants who share their thoughts on selected readings at every meeting. Though the ideas of each member differ, all are encouraged to speak their mind and offer their perspective on applicable issues. According to Robinson, discussion is continually encouraged among participants despite their differences in opinion.
