Otselic Valley 3, Brookfield 2
SOUTH OTSELIC – A flurry of goals were scored in the final 21 minutes, the last and decisive goal coming from Nikki Olin to give Otselic Valley its seventh win of the season.
The victory moves OV’s mark to 7-6 on the season, and earns the Vikings a qualifying spot in the Section III playoffs later this month. It will be the first time in at least 10 years the Vikings earned a playoff berth “The hard work is really paying off, and I knew that we could have had something special this year,” said OV coach Kevin Springer. “We’ve won more games and scored more goals this year than the previous three or four years combined. We are hoping to build off of it.”
A scoreless game for 59 minutes turned into scoring fest the rest of the way. Freshman Jordan Lidell scored off Olin assists at 21:35 and 16:43. Brookfield knotted the game with two goals of its own over the next five minutes. Lidell set up Olin with the winner with 9:59 to play. “Brookfield is a tough team and they needed a couple of wins to qualify for sectionals,” Springer said. “We needed a win to get into sectionals, and I was glad we were able to play a littlle better than them today.”
OV has back-to-back dates with Stockbridge Valley hosting the Indians today and traveling to SV on Thursday.
