Cyclones C team capture division crown

NORWICH – The Cyclones were at home Sunday for their last regular season games, and the Cyclones “C” team finished the season undefeated with a 21-0 win over the Camden Blue Devils
The Cyclones scored early in the first quarter on a 5-yard TD run by Collin Montgomery. Carson Maynard added a 5-yard TD in the second quarter, with Scott Manwarren kicking a two-point PAT. Austin Foulds hit Drew Walsh on a 22-yard option pass play for a touchdown, with Tom Parrella passing to GriffIn Clipston for a 21-0 halftime score.
Zack Mills, Elijah Rodriguez, and Montgomery also ran well behind the sold offensive line play.
On defense, John Vinal had a fumble recovery, with Noah Bufalini, David Berger, and Kyle Shepard holding Camden to minus yardage. The victory clinches a Tri-Valley League division crown.
The Cyclones “B” team lost to the undefeated Camden squad, 24-8.
Marcus Benjamin scored for the Cyclones on a 2-yard run, with Cameron Ivan kicking the 2-point PAT. Benjamin ran well on the day with a 41-yard run to the Blue Devils 14. On defense, Cristobal Caballero had a recovery of an onside kick, Carter Rudnitski had a 50-yard return of an interception, with Benjamin, Payton Stirone, Tim Thompson, and Ivan all playing well.
The Cyclones “A” team downed Camden, 28-12. The Cyclones struck early with two touchdowns in the first – a 2-yard plunge by Nick Murphy and a 3-yard TD by Cameron Edwards. Jordan Vinal hit Carlos Ithier on a 41-yard pass play for a TD, with Jakob Franklin adding a running PAT. Ithier also kicked a 2-point PAT for a 21-0 halftime lead.
Dalen Geislinger had a 5-yard touchdown in the fourth, set up by a Nick Murphy kick-off return to the 18. Carter Hubbard added the PAT. Franklin and Nick Stirone ran well also.
On defense, Murphy had a fumble recovery. Cole Rifanburg recovered a Cyclones onside kick, Hubbard recovered a Blue Devils lateral with Ithier, Edwards, Jake Walsh, and Mike Russell also playing big D.
The Cyclones “D” team had a field day against Camden and came out on top.
The Cyclones begin the playoffs Sunday with the D team playing Hamilton at 9 a.m., the C team against Oneida at 11 a.m. and the B team with New Hartford at 1 pm – all at home at Alumni Field Sunday. The A team will play at Utica at 5 p.m.
