Cyclones 'C' team reaches league title game

NORWICH – The undefeated Norwich Cyclones “C” team will play in the Tri-Valley League championship game Saturday in Waterville at 4 p.m. versus Rome. The Cyclones downed Oneida 29-0 this past Sunday at Alumni Field to reach the league final.
Zack Mills ran 36 yards on the first play from scrimmage to the 15, and Mills opened the Cyclones scoring with a 4-yard TD run. Tom Parrella passed to JT Vinal for the point-after.
A 23-yard option pass from Elijah Rodriguez to Austin Foulds set up a 3-yard TD, with Carson Maynard adding the PAT. Rodriguez added a 24-yard touchdown run, with Scott Manwarren booting a two-point kick. Noah Marvin ran for a 5-yard TD with Bryce Marvin tacking on the PAT run to close the scoring.
On defense, Marvin, Vinal, Kody Harrison, Kegan Wright, and Drew Walsh had stellar games.
The Cyclones “B” team took on undefeated New Hartford in the League semifinal contest and fell 6-0. The game was a defensive struggle with a 0-0 halftime score.
Cameron Ivan, Alex Wehrli, Owen Blackman, Marcus Benjamin, Ty Rifanburg and Michael Carson played good defense for the B squad.
The Cyclones “A” team fell in the semifinals to Utica, 12-6.
Carlos Ithier tied the game at 6-6 in the third on a 5-yard TD run. The Bulldogs answered moments later on a 51-yard pass play.
The Cyclones were inside the Utica five in the fourth, and a missed a first down by three inches. The Cyclones mounted one more drive deep in the Utica red zone as the time ran out. The Cyclones, again, experiencing problems with the timekeeper in the booth.
Nick Murphy ran especially well – his best game of the year. Ithier, Matt Parrella, Dan Zieno, Jordan Vinal and Cameron Edwards added solid defensive play.
The Cyclones “D” team finished on a strong note having a field day against Mid-York (Hamilton).
The Cyclones wish to thank all their supporters, coaches, volunteers, and parents, who make the Cyclone program possible for 200 players and cheerleaders annually.
