‘Blueprints’ are finalized for Habitat for Humanity dinner in Oxford
OXFORD – St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Outreach Committee met recently to start ‘framing out’ their dinner plans for their benefit partner, Chenango County Habitat for Humanity (CCHH). The dinner focus is on family, because Habitat homes help make family’s dreams come true by creating affordable housing. Mark your calendars as the date for the benefit dinner has been set. It will be, Saturday, Nov. 12, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. in St. Paul’s Episcopal Parish House, at 32 Main St., in Oxford.
Audrey Johnson, Sandy Colton and Rebecca O’Connor of Chenango County Habitat for Humanity joined with Charlie McMullen, Joanie Bradley and Bonnie Emerson of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Outreach Committee at the Emerson home in Oxford. They shared ideas and developed plans for their collaborative fundraiser.
Chef-“foreman” Charlie and the crew came up with the CCHH dinner menu to appeal to all ages. The dinner will have a firm foundation starting with a baked ham with a raisin sauce glaze, accompanied by a sweet potato “Casa”-role (pun intended). There will be a fresh broccoli salad, apple sauce, dinner roll, beverage, and of course, a dessert of ice cream trimmed-out with a brownie. This home-cooked dinner, presented by servers in tool aprons, is sure to fill everyone to the rafters!
St. Paul’s Parish House will have a cornucopia of fall decor like pumpkin center pieces with carved-out houses, paper cartoon construction worker’s tools and a custom made activity placemat with things for everyone to do. During the dinner, Habitat will have a Chinese Auction for at least a dozen different items. More information on this and news about the next building site will follow.
CCHH is a 501(c) (3) non-profit charitable organization that seeks to help families currently living in substandard housing, who need a "hand up rather than a “hand out” to own affordable housing. To learn more, visit www.habitat.chenango.org .
Dinner take-outs will be available and all proceeds will benefit Chenango County Habitat for Humanity. For more dinner information call 843-7045.
