Cyclones ‘C’ team wins league title, heads to state tourney

WATERVILLE – The Cyclones “C” team downed Rome, 7-6, here Sunday to win the Tri-Valley League Championship.

The “C” team is 25-2 over the last three years, with two championships and a runner-up loss in overtime last year.

The Cyclones reached the Rome 15-, 8- and 3-yard lines in the first half behind the rushing of Zackary Mills and Drew Walsh, but couldn’t reach paydirt. Drew Walsh recovered the Cyclones second half kick-off to the Colts, and then the Cyclones mounted a drive of 50 yards, with Walsh scoring on a 10-yard run, and adding the game-winning point after touchdown run.

The Colts were not done returning the ensuing kickoff 60 yards for a touchdown, but missing the PAT.
