Day named SUNYAC Rookie of the Year
FREDONIA — State University of New York Athletic Conference Commissioner, Pat Damore, has announced the 2011 All-Conference team for field hockey, and Oneonta State has six players that earned honors as first or second team performers. It was also announced that freshman Andrea Day (Greene/Greene) was selected by the coaches as the SUNYAC Rookie of the Year.
Day, a second team all-league choice, had an instant impact on the Red Dragons’ squad this fall. She started all 21 games and finished third on the team in scoring with nine goals and two assists for 20 points. Five of her nine goals were game-winners as well. Day becomes only the second player in the history of the program to be selected as the conference Rookie of the Year. Kate Kubaryk was honored after the 2006 season.
