Monday Evening Musical Club concert features ‘something for everyone’
NORWICH – The Monday Evening Musical Club presents its third concert of the season on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the United Church of Christ, 11 W. Main St. in Norwich.
The program features club members, area music teachers, and some special guest performers. The musical selections truly offer ‘something for everyone’ with compositions of George and Ira Gershwin, Franz Schubert, Broadway composer Andrew Lippa (Addams Family), and P.D.Q. Bach, the last (and most assuredly the least) of Johann Sebastian Bach’s offspring, as well as several others. There will also be a performance of “Birds of a Feather” by the late Vivien Harvey Slater. Mrs. Slater was an extraordinary musician and teacher, and a great friend to the Monday Evening Musical Club. Her piano duet will be played by Anita Humer and Kerry Koen.
The concert will include vocal solo music, a vocal trio, instrumental chamber music, hammered dulcimer and guitar, as well as two choral selections. Club members will be joined by teachers from Oxford, Hamilton, Greene, Chenango Forks and Norwich school districts.
The performance will be followed by a reception; all are invited to stay for refreshments and a chance to meet the performers.
As always, Monday Evening Musical Club programs are free and open to the public. Donations, all of which are fully deductible, are gratefully accepted and go directly to Music Club’s scholarship fund. The scholarship is open to all Chenango County high school seniors who plan to major in music in college.
