Greene plans Hometown Holiday Weekend
GREENE – The Greater Greene Chamber if Commerce will hold its annual Hometown Holiday Weekend beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday at Memorial Park.
The holiday weekend will begin with caroling and a tree lighting ceremony at 6:30 p.m. There will also be a drawing for both a girls and boys bike and the winner of the Treasure Hunt will be announced.
Registration for the bike drawing will occur until noon on Friday at MicKinney Real Estate, Village Variety, Comfort Electrics and Thomas Real Estate.
The treasure hunt, new this year, must also be submitted before noon and entry forms are available at any participating Greene area business. Participants who find 9 of the 13 colored trees will be entered for a chance to win a $30 gift certificate from The Cheese Trap.
The festivities will continue on Saturday from 8-10 p.m. at the Congregational Church for breakfast with Santa. Arts and crafts will be available for children at the Moore Memorial Library and there will be free horse and wagon rides.
At 2 p.m. there will be a wreath making exhibition at Zion Episcopal Church at a cost of $10. Homemade soup will also be available for purchase from 11-1 p.m.
