Greene, Norwich wrestlers claim 5 Windsor titles

WINDSOR – Greene and Norwich placed third and fourth respectively at the Windsor Christmas Tournament, and the two Chenango County schools combined for five overall titles Thursday evening.
The Trojans’ Mike Beckwith (160), Joel Roselle (170), and Keegan Cerwinski (182) won in consecutive weight classes, while the Tornado’s Tristan Rifanburg (120), and Kegan Levesque (195) claimed championships.
Rifanburg was hardly tested in his foray into the 120-pound ranks, and he blitzed Unatego’s Austin Ryan in the title match flattening Ryan in 1:17. Later on, Greene took centerstage finishing 3-for-3 in finals appearances.
Beckwith powered his way to a 9-1 decision victory over Mark Dove of Homer. Roselle eked out a 3-2 overtime win over top-seeded Troy Nickels of Ithaca, while Cerwinski beat two-time state tournament competitor, Ryan Todd of Lansing, 2-1.
Levesque, showing improved conditioning, needed overtime to dispatch Windsor’s Jesse Angevine, 3-1.
Elsewhere, Norwich’s Tanner Cummings was second at 152 pounds, the Tornado’s Frank Garcia placed third at 132, B-G/Afton’s Jesse Griswold was third at 138; the Bears’ Billy Holden wrestled back for third at 285 pounds, and the Purple Tornado’s Cody Bradbury was fourth at 182 pounds.
