“Class Dismissed” shown Tuesday night

NORWICH – The next film showing for the Norwich Second Tuesday Monthly Film Series will be “Class Dismissed: How TV Frames the Working Class” at 7 p.m., Tuesday in the Founders’ Room at the United Church of Christ, 11 West Main. This fast paced, hard hitting and timely film examines how corporate television has misrepresented working class people from the earliest days of TV to the full range of programming today.

This documentary shows how class dynamics are blurred by issues of race, gender, and sexuality allowing for platforms for the industry’s frequent use of one dimensional working class portrayals, thus fostering the injustice of social stereotyping. This thought provoking educational event for the public is free and is co-sponsored by Chenango County Peace Action and C-CARE (Chenango Community Action for Renewable Energy).
