New orthopedic practice opens in Norwich

NORWICH – UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital announces a new orthopedic practice, UHS Orthopedics Norwich, beginning Feb. 7. That is when Dr. Ronald S. DeThomas will join the hospital’s new orthopedic practice. He will see patients in an office adjacent to the hospital’s Emergency Room.

According to Chris Kisacky, Vice President Operations, Dr. DeThomas is an experienced orthopedic surgeon who already lives in the region and he is looking forward to practicing in the Norwich area. She stated that Dr. Anthony Ciccoria and Melissa Tworkowski, RPA-C, who have been on UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital’s medical staff for many years, are continuing to practice at their Court Street location and at the hospital. “Employing Dr. DeThomas adds to our capacity to serve the local orthopedic needs here at Chenango Memorial. Dr. DeThomas will enable our medical staff to serve more patients with the high quality orthopedic services local residents expect and deserve.”

Dr. DeThomas is a graduate of Albany Medical College, where he completed residencies in general surgery and orthopedic surgery. He is a board certified orthopedic surgeon and is a member of American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He has practiced in New York State, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Ohio and comes to Norwich from a practice in Cortland. He practices general orthopedics including fracture care, arthroscopic surgery of the knee and shoulder and joint replacement of the hip and knee. Dr. DeThomas is looking forward to helping to meet the orthopedic needs of the local community.
