CLINTON – Clinton held Sherburne-Earlville without a point in overtime to earn its second win over the Marauders this season Wednesday night.
Alyssa Hapanowicz was 5-for-6 from the foul line in the extra period to account for half of her team’s points.
S-E had a chance to win the game in regulation when it picked up a steal with seven seconds left, and had a layup at the buzzer that was off the mark. “It shouldn’t have come down to that (last shot),” said S-E coach Karen Mulligan. “We missed a lot of easy shots the entire game.”
The Marauders had four players with two fouls in the first half, and starting guard Sierra Morris went down with a injury in the third quarter. Cassie Beaver scored 11 points to lead the Marauders before fouling out. “We had a hard time getting into an offensive flow all game,” Mulligan said. “We turned it over 22 times, and with a lot of subs going in and out, it made it a pretty long night.”
