CANASTOTA – Sherburne-Earlville completed a perfect 10-0 run through Center State Conference Division One play defeating Canastota Thursday evening.
Six different Marauders scored in a 21-7 opening period with Cole Hodges scoring six points to lead the group. “We’ve had some close road games the past couple of weeks, but the kids have risen to the challenge,” said S-E coach Kevin Vibbard. “When you’re in first place, you have a bullseye on your back, and you get everyone’s best game. We were able to fight through that, and our depth carried us through.”
Austin Jasper did not score in the opening period, but carried the S-E offense over the last three periods scoring a game-high 21 points. The S-E lead remained in double digits for all but the briefest of moments in the fourth quarter when Canastota came as close as nine. Matt Smith and Paul Romanenko added 10 points apiece for S-E (13-3), and Hodges tossed in nine.
The Marauders play at Cooperstown Saturday.
