Four sentenced in county court
NORWICH – Four people charged with various felonies were sentenced in Chenango County Court on Friday.
• Bradley Romano, 27, of Sidney, was sentenced to four years in state prison and five years post-release supervision after pleading guilty to one charge of menacing a police officer, a class D felony, following a court-approved furlough.
Romano was indicted on that charge in January of 2011, in addition to charges of third degree criminal possession of a weapon – also a class D felony – two counts of fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon and one count of resisting arrest.
On Dec. 13, 2011, Romano, who was wanted on a bench warrant for second degree assault, was located by New York State Police in the Town of Guilford. Once located – and prior to his arrest – Romano admitted to pointing a 16-gauge shotgun at troopers.
On Friday, Romano said he deeply regretted the incident and is devoted to turning his life around. Judge W. Howard Sullivan, in response, said Romano has only lived approximately one-third of his life and – unless he wants to spend the remaining two-thirds in prison – needs to “follow through” and “do what you say you’re going to do.”
