Y contest to see who makes Chenango's best chili

NORWICH – Taste buds will be challenged this Saturday as the Norwich Family YMCA hosts the Third Annual Chili Cook-off good will fundraiser.

This year’s Chili Cook-off will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Community Room at the YMCA. All proceeds will benefit the Our Daily Bread Food Pantry at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Norwich. Attendees are also encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item as an additional donation.

Nearly $400 was raised to benefit the American Cancer Society and the Dana Farbe Cancer Institute in Boston at last year’s cook-off. The event has grown over the years, said YMCA Youth and Family Director Bonnie Tiffany, and hopes are to raise even more money for a more local cause this year.

“Every year, we seem to get more entries,” Tiffany said. “It seems to be building and there has been a lot of interest in it this year.”
