First Edition closes final chapter Saturday

NORWICH – While her years at First Edition Book Store are now behind her, Lisa Mody, owner of the small downtown book store, is looking forward with an appreciation of the support given her over the years.
“Thank you to all the loyal customers who have shown a tremendous amount of support,” Mody said, giving a statement on Thursday. “Also, to all the other merchants who have been very supportive, particularly Pat and Linda McNeil, Chris Hayes and the building owner, Teddi Arnell.”
Mody also recognized the support from her family over the years, and the help given her by her “Aunt Ippie,” who had become a prominent employee to all her regular customers, she noted.
Mody has worked at First Edition as both an employee and then as the store’s owner for more than 20 years. Leaving it behind is going to be difficult, she said but with new opportunities ahead, she is staying optimistic.
“The customers have been amazing. I’ve had people say things that have really touched me,” she added. “I’m going to miss it.”
First Edition will close its doors and shut off its lights for the last time Saturday. Come Monday, Mody said the store will be empty and available for a new business to move in.
