Village ambulance ‘Friends’ to hold fundraiser Saturday
NEW BERLIN – The Friends of the New Berlin Ambulance Service will hold a fundraiser on Saturday at the New Berlin Fire House.
The fundraiser will include a pancake breakfast at 7 a.m. and a bake sale and chicken barbecue at noon. There will also be multiple raffles throughout the day.
According to co-chair of the group and former village board member Robert Huot, the purpose of the event is to collect money for the NBAS, which reported a $54,000 deficit in the 2011 budget.
The village’s budget is currently less than $100,000, approximately $1,000 more than previous year’s despite the service becoming a 24 hour operation.
“The service went from 12-hour days to 24-hour days to provide more coverage,” said Huot. “But many things weren’t put together properly and there wasn’t a satisfactory budget.”
