Wlasiuk trial date rescheduled; new judge named

NORWICH – The trial of twice-convicted murderer Peter Wlasiuk has been rescheduled from April 30 to June 4 and a new judge has been named as the one-time Guilford resident prepares to plead his innocence once again.

This will be Wlasiuk’s third trial for the alleged murder of his wife, Patricia Wlasiuk, whose body was recovered from Guilford Lake in April of 2002, following what authorities have called a staged accident.

Broome County Judge Joseph Cawley has been reassigned to the case, replacing Broome County Judge Martin E. Smith, who oversaw Wlasiuk’s second trial, according to the Chenango County District Attorney’s Office.
