Utica men charged with conspiracy in Oxford
OXFORD – A pair of Utica men are currently being held at the Chenango County Correctional Facility following an Oxford Police Department investigation into stolen property at the village’s Dollar General store, located at 1 North Washington Ave.
David J. Dickan and Thomas D. Hajdasz, both age 51, have been charged with sixth degree conspiracy, petit larceny and fifth degree criminal possession of stolen property, all class A misdemeanors, according to Oxford Police Chief Rich Nolan. Hajdasz was also charged with second degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and a number of other traffic infractions.
The two are accused of stealing more than 30 bottles of Red Bull from the Dollar General and fleeing the scene of the crime in a red Chevy pick-up truck. In an unrelated event, police had already pulled the vehicle over, allegedly for running a stop sign. During the vehicle stop, it was discovered that Hajdasz’s license to operate a motor vehicle was suspended. After communicating with Chenango County Dispatch – which reported the pair’s possible involvement with the larceny – the vehicle was searched.
