Sherburne’s St. Patrick’s Day parade cancelled
SHERBURNE – The Village of Sherburne will be without the legato sound of bagpipes and green-clad paraders this St. Patrick’s Day, as organizers of the annual event have called it quits.
“It’s a shame, but they’ve had to cancel,” said Village Mayor Bill Acee yesterday. The event would have normally occurred this Saturday.
Co-organizers Theresa Mastro and Kathy O’Connor were part of a committee of four who, together, revived the parade 10 years ago. It grew to about 50 participants, complete with several bagpipe marching groups, bands, floats and a grand marshal.
