Revoir declares candidacy for county judge
NORWICH – Local attorney Frank Revoir Jr. announced his candidacy today for the office of Chenango County, Surrogate and Family Court Judge, an elected position held for the last 12 years by the Hon. W. Howard Sullivan, who is retiring this year.
“Following in the footsteps of such a well respected and admired man will be no easy task,” said Revoir, a Republican. “I can only hope to earn the same level of respect and admiration as Judge Sullivan earned in his tenure.”
Born and raised in Chenango County, Revoir began his legal career as a law clerk in the very court over which he seeks to preside. For the past 16 years, he has served as a prosecutor with the Chenango County Attorney’s Office, and also serves as an attorney in criminal defense, estates and family court. He operates a law practice from an office on Elm Street in Norwich.
“I have spent my entire legal career working in the trenches, in all areas directly relevant to the expected duties of a County Court Judge,” Revoir said. “This experience has provided me with a thorough working knowledge of the laws specific to all three facets of the Chenango County Court system. My experience has afforded me with the understanding and ability to perform the delicate balancing act of protecting the rights of the community and the accused; while making me keenly aware and empathetic to the extreme emotions and struggles of those persons who appear before the court.”
Although the election for the judge’s 10-year term will take place in November, more than one candidate seeking the Republican nomination would necessitate a GOP primary vote – but at this point it’s uncertain exactly when that will take place. “It could be as early as June,” Revoir said, citing a pending decision from the state on whether to move primaries away from their traditional September date. Revoir’s campaign team will soon be seeking the required 630 signatures from registered Republicans for his petition to be on the GOP primary ballot.
“I truly believe it to be a noble purpose to serve in the role of judge – I always have,” Revoir said. “A judge has an opportunity to make a positive difference in the community.”
Revoir’s campaign coalition launched a website today, www.frankforjudge.com, detailing his credentials and providing supporters with opportunities to volunteer or donate. There’s also a hotline for senior citizens and disabled voters to request home visits to sign petitions or ask for transportation to the polls. For more information, call 244-9106.
