NEW YORK CITY – At the New Balance Indoor Nationals, Norwich sophomore Matt Murray placed fifth overall against national competition in the 800-meter emerging elite division, this past weekend at the Armory in New York City.

Murray, running in the heat that produced three of the five fastest times, set an indoor personal-best time and tied his overall best time finishing in 1:56.28. “It was really great to see that type of competition,” said Murray’s coach at Norwich, Shaun Horan. “The Armory is the ultimate track and field experience because of the atmosphere and with so much going on. To finish among the best in the country is pretty awesome.”
