United Church of Oxford plans Palm Sunday concert
OXFORD – The United Church of Oxford will present a Palm Sunday concert at 3 p.m. on April 1 at the Main Street Sanctuary.
The concert will include a choir, brass quintet, woodwind ensemble, praise band and soloists performing a variety of music in preparation for the Easter season.
“We have quite a number of musical groups to showcase,” said choir director and organist Francis Wilcox. “Our purpose is to celebrate the lenten and Easter season in our first concert of the year.”
Wilcox explained that the church holds two concerts, one before Easter and one around the Christmas season. This will be the 32nd year, he said.
The choir will perform three new anthems including a rhapsodic arrangement by Mark Hayes and “Gloria” from the Twelfth Mass by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, a favorite around this time of year, said Wilcox.
