Harpursville 18, B-G 0
BAINBRIDGE – Harpursville won for the second time in as many nights against Chenango County opposition blanking Bainbridge-Guilford Tuesday.
Harpursville erupted for 12 runs in the fifth inning to put the game out of reach. The first two Hornets reached on errors to start the uprising. “We don’t commit those two errors to start the fifth, maybe things work out differently,” said B-G coach Tim Mattingly. “But we have to hit the ball better. We had just five hits in the game.”
Austin Bauerle doubled twice for B-G, and Lucas Butcher also had two hits.
Jon Arnold and Jim Kelley led Harpursville with two hits apiece.
B-G hosts Unatego on Thursday.

Deposit 7, Greene 5
GREENE – Deposit’s defense made two run-saving defensive gems in the second inning that halted Greene’s potential momentum, and allowed the Lumberjacks an opportunity to rally for a two-run victory Tuesday.
“Those were big plays when we had a 4-2 lead, and thought we had a chance to break the game open,” said Greene coach Steve Burghardt.
The first play was a hard grounder to third by the Trojans’ Joe Beckwith that was snagged on a short-hop for a five-to-three putout, and the second play was a diving catch in the outfield that Burghardt said was worth of an ESPN highlight.
Deposit overcame the early deficit with five runs in the fifth inning. The first two runs came as a result of the Trojans’ only two errors, and Will Lester’s two-run single gave Deposit the lead.
Kurt Bartholomew led Greene with three hits in four at-bats.

AFTON – Eighteen total runs were scored by Delhi and Afton in the third inning alone, and the Bulldogs emerged with a MAC win on Tuesday in a game called after six innings due to darkness.
Brandon Snyder had three hits for Delhi including a three-run homer in a 10-run third to give his club a 14-3 lead.
Afton battled back with eight runs of its own keyed by Cameron Oswald’s grand slam. “I would say the pitchers did a decent job of throwing grounders and flyballs, but neither defense performed today,” said Afton coach Ron Rapp, who charted 18 errors in the game. “Really, this game should have been a lot lower scoring.”
Oswald drove in five runs to lead Afton, and Mark Viviano was 2-for-2 with four runs scored. Afton hosts Hancock on Thursday.
