New Berlin man charged with felony burglary following break-ins
NEW BERLIN – A Village of New Berlin man remains in custody at the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $50,000 cash bail following a pair of break-ins in that took place in the early morning hours of April 23 and 24.
Talon N. Taltavall, 21, was charged on Tuesday with two counts of third degree burglary – a class D felony – accused of breaking into the New Berlin Diner, 5079 State Highway 8, north of the village, and Marquit Markets, 1 Main St., where he allegedly stole a cash register and an undisclosed amount of cash, and miscellaneous food items, beer and tobacco products, respectively. It is also alleged by authorities that Taltavall caused “damage beyond repair” to cash registers at both locations.
