NORWICH – The City of Norwich Fire Department responded to a structure fire at the Chenango Glass Company on 17 Waite St. at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and while the garage that housed the business was a total loss, fire crews responded quickly to prevent it from spreading to surrounding homes.

“Unfortunately, old garages like this burn fast,” said Norwich Fire Chief Tracy Chawgo. “It burned for a while before we were able to put it out ... fortunately, no one was inside.”
