Norwich picks up 7th victory of season

Norwich 5, Windsor 4

NORWICH – Norwich won for the seventh time this season and second against Windsor as brothers Cody Barnes and Ben Barnes pitched the Tornado to victory Friday afternoon.

Dennis Oralls had two hits and two RBI for the Tornado. Oralls drove in his first run in Norwich’s four-run first, and knocked in the go-ahead run in the third to score Colby Griffin. Justin Lindenthaler had an RBI in the first inning, and Griffin along with Oralls had 2-for-3 days at the plate.

Cody Barnes used just 80 pitches in six innings, and Ben Barnes had two strikeouts and induced a flyball for the final out to earn the save. “Cody did a nice job on the mound and we got a lot out of him today,” said Norwich coach John Martinson.

Norwich is 7-3 overall and 3-3 in league play. It plays at Seton Catholic Central today.

Unadilla Valley 14, Afton 9

NEW BERLIN – Unadilla Valley scored 11 runs in its first at-bat and went on to defeat Afton Thursday afternoon.

The Storm’s Brandon Miles was 3-for-5 with a home run and four RBI. Justin Hofer went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, and Brett Smith had two hits. Kurt Haycook pitched 3 1-3 scoreless innings of relief for UV to save the win for Miles.
